Local jr. golfer Hughes wins at Fitzsimons

Local junior golfer Jack Hughes of Snowmass Village continues to make headlines in the summer season.

Hughes last week won the title at the Colorado Junior Golf Association (CJGA) tournament at Fitzsimons Golf Club in the Denver area.

Competing in the boys 11-13 division of the CJGA event, Hughes finished in first place with a 1-over score of 72.

Jordan Jennings of Montrose finished second, two shots back.

Elijah Harp of Monument was third with Clayton Whitton of Evergreen fourth.

The field included 35 junior golfers.

Earlier in Denver, Hughes finished third in the CJGA event at Littleton Golf Club. Hughes shot a 68 in that tournament, which featured 59 golfers.

In the Colorado Junior Golf Association tournament at Foothills Golf Club last week, Aspen’s Nic Pevny finished in second place in the boys 9-10 division.

Camden Braidech of Littleton won the tournament.

Eighteen juniors 9-10 competed.
