Local churches busy this week
This Sunday – Palm Sunday – kicks off what will be a busy Easter week for churches from Aspen to Basalt.
Palm Sunday is April 16, followed by Maundy Thursday on April 20, Good Friday on April 21, and Easter Sunday on April 23.
Below is a listing of what each church has planned.
Aspen Chapel (0077 Meadowood Drive, 925-7184) – Palm/Passion Sunday, 9:30 a.m. worship service, with music by the Chapel Quartet; Easter Sunday, 8:30 a.m. service at the top of Aspen Mountain (gondola begins running at 7 a.m.), 10:30 a.m. service at the chapel with performance by the chapel choir.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church (Main and Hunter streets, 925-7339) – Palm/Passion Sunday, 7:30 and 10:30 a.m. Catholic mass, 5:30 p.m. Catholic mass; Holy Thursday, 7 p.m. Feast of the Lord’s Supper, 9 p.m. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament; Good Friday, 3 p.m. service; Holy Saturday, 8 p.m. vigil and mass; Easter Sunday, services at 7:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Christ Episcopal Church (536 W. North St., 925-3278) – Palm Sunday, Holy Eucharist at 8 and 10 a.m.; Holy Eucharist at 8 a.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; Maundy Thursday, The Agape Feast at 6 p.m.; Good Friday, 9 a.m. reception of the Blessed Sacrament, noon Good Friday prayer book service; Easter Sunday, Holy Eucharist at 8 and 10 a.m., egg hunt at 10 a.m.

Snowmass Chapel (5307 Owl Creek Rd., 923-6192) – Good Friday, Catholic mass at 5 p.m.; Easter Sunday, 7 a.m. service outside at The Silvertree Hotel, 9 a.m. nondenominational service at the chapel, 5 p.m. Catholic mass.
Basalt Community United Methodist Church (200 E. Homestead Drive, 927-4098) – Palm/Passion Sunday, 9:30 a.m. service at the church, 2 p.m. service at Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale; Maundy Thursday, 6:30 p.m. meal with communion; Good Friday, noon to 3 p.m. prayer vigil, 7:30 p.m. Service of the Shadows; Easter Sunday, 7 a.m. sunrise service with breakfast, 9:30 a.m. Easter worship and communion, 10:30 a.m. egg hunt, and 11 a.m. worship and communion.
Basalt Bible Church (20451 Highway 82, 927-4342) – Thursday, 6:30 p.m. Passover dinner; Good Friday, 7 p.m. service; Easter Sunday, 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services, Sunday School begins at 9 a.m.
Alpine Christian Fellowship (0167 Holland Hills, 927-3574) – Easter Sunday, service at 10 a.m.
St. Vincent’s Catholic Church (250 Midland Ave., 927-3934) – Saturday, 5:30 p.m. service, 7 p.m. service in Spanish; Holy Thursday, 7 p.m. service; Good Friday, 7 p.m. service in Spanish; Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil at 8 p.m.; Easter Sunday, 8:30 a.m. service.
