Liselotte Shimer

Basalt resident Liselotte Shimer died Saturday, Aug. 17. She was 74 years old.

Shimer was born Aug. 22, 1927, in Bavaria, Germany, to Anton and Rosa Stoeckl, and was raised in Bavaria. She later married Ben Shimer.

In 1964 the Shimer family moved to Aspen, where they built the Shimer Apartments at Stillwater. She also worked for many years at Whale of a Wash Laundromat.

Shimer was a loving mother and doting grandmother with a warm, giving and loving nature. She brightened everyone?s day.

She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by daughter Geraldine Shimer of Basalt; son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Trish Shimer of Basalt; brothers Anton Stoeckl of New Port Richey, Fla., and Karli Stoeckl of Schoefweg, Germany; sister Annemarie Stoeckl of Schoefweg, Germany; grandchildren Sierra Rose and Darcy Leigh; great-granddaughter Marrisella Corina; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
