Limelite an asset for Aspen
August 8, 2005
While visiting Aspen last week, I read your editorial about the Limelite Lodge’s proposal to renovate their property. I think it could be a wonderful asset to Aspen’s redevelopment plan and lodging availability.
My family first visited Aspen in the late 1960s and stayed at the Limelite Lodge for several years until we purchased a condo at Aspen Highlands. Since that time I have referred friends to the Limelite because of its location and personal service.
The Paas family has always cared about maintaining an affordable, friendly and welcoming lodge for guests that is part of what made Aspen so special and drew visitors back year after year. I personally know that Dale Paas and his family run their lodge with integrity and concern for the community that they have lived in and supported for years and literally generations.
Aspen needs to support family-run businesses that maintain affordable and friendly accommodations, such as the Limelite Lodge has and would continue to provide. I urge the City Council and community to support their conscientious plan for building new structures that would complement Aspen’s downtown look while providing guests with more comfort for years to come.
