Lift hours extended to 4 p.m. at all Skico areas starting Saturday

Staff report

Longer days mean more skiing.

Aspen Skiing Co. is extending the hours of some of its chairlifts to 4 p.m. at all four of its ski areas starting today.

On Aspen Mountain, the Silver Queen Gondola, Ajax Express and FIS lifts will run later. At Snowmass, the Elk Camp Gondola, Village Express and Sheer Bliss will run to 4 p.m.

The hours also have been extended for the Exhibition chairlift at Aspen Highlands and the Summit Express lift at Buttermilk.

The ski season passed the halfway point early in February. Although it seems like a distant memory because of the lack of snow, Aspen Mountain opened early because of great snow conditions. Aspen Mountain was able to open Nov. 22 and is scheduled to close April 19.

The other scheduled closings are April 12 at Snowmass and Aspen Highlands and April 5 at Buttermilk.
