Lift 1A decision day
Thursday should be a big decision day for the new development planned for the base of Lift 1A. Answers to the following questions will be discussed at the Lift 1A COWOP task force meeting. Public comment generally starts around 1:30 p.m.
What will be the best way to get to the base of the new proposed ski lift for Aspen Mountain’s Lift 1A from Dean Street up the steep Aspen Street to the new lift? Should the access to the new lift be a series of escalators, a walking path, a cable car/trolley, rubber wheels such as buses or cars, or a moving sidewalk?
How are guests, visitors and worker bees living on site, commuting worker bees, locals, shuttle vehicles and service trucks going to get in and out of the new 8.5-acre redevelopment? And how many?
How much noise, pollution, greenhouse gases, congestion and safety concerns can be eliminated from the project?
Thursday, transportation experts will be on hand to explain and answer questions from the public and the Lift 1A Task Force so that a recommendation can be finalized (hopefully) by the task force, which will be given to City Council sometime in the near future.
The meeting starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m. at the beautiful Aspen Meadows (home to Plato’s Restaurant) in the Hines Room located downstairs in the Kresge Building.
I have high hopes for this project. I hope you can attend.
