Library an important asset

Dear Editor:I am writing as both a library board member and Basalt-area resident, urging people to vote yes on 4A to support our local library. A yes vote will ensure the library stays open six days a week, help keep our book collection current, add computers and workstations, and retain and possibly expand our staff. A no vote will close our library at least two days a week, reduce staff hours, make it problematic to keep up with current titles and keeping current on our technology programs. Our request seems very conservative: $36 per year for a home valued at $400,000 or, if you don’t own property and rent, it will cost you $0. Libraries are an important community asset. Let’s show our values this election and vote yes on 4A.Bruce GabowFryingpan
