Letters home

The impending war with Iraq is making headlines everywhere; it’s the top subject in our letters column and the national media. Yet, locally we’ve had little to report on other than the peace demonstrations and forums held in our valley.

The Aspen Times is starting a new feature called “Letters Home,” and we need our readers’ help. We are looking for people in our community who have family members – sons or daughters, husbands or wives – in the military overseas.

We would like to publish their letters sent home describing their lives as they wait to find out what the future holds. Or if they would be willing to send us letters about their experiences overseas, we would be glad to publish them.

Anyone wishing to help us out should call editor Mike Hagan at 925-3414, or e-mail to hagan@aspentimes.com. We thank you in advance for help with this project.

|

The blizzards of January and February seem like distant dreams to Colorado water managers. What started as a promising year for water supply — with above-average snowpack as of April 1 — ended Sept. 30 with the entire state in some level of drought.
