Let’s hear it for a local

Dear Editor:

I’ve just got back to Perth, Australia, after two great weeks in Aspen. No new snow but the groomed slopes were fabulous skiing. The town was real fun. I’m coming back next year for sure.

But the purpose of this letter is to thank an anonymous “local” who found and handed in my hearing aid. I had hiked up to the back bowl at Highlands and, being 62 years, stopped for a breather halfway. Taking off my helmet I obviously dislodged my hearing aid and didn’t notice until later that day. Looking for a half-inch hearing aid in snow makes needle in haystack look easy.

But I reported it to lost property with no real hope.

Two days later I got a call saying it had been found. Amazing. And it is still in perfect working order.

So whoever the anonymous “local” is – thank you so much.
