Let’s all help Toad
April 2, 2003
On April 10, at 3 p.m., there will be a benefit for Toad (Todd Olson) at Bumps Restaurant at Buttermilk.
Toad has taught kids at Buttermilk since 1973, working as a full-time pro with literally thousands of kids. He has leukemia and is hospitalized in a hospital at Stanford, Calif., trying to recover to the point that a bone marrow transplant will be tried.
As a supervisor, I am approached every day by children asking if Toad is teaching today and I have to convey the sad news.
We have had many benefits lately for ski instructors and others that have made this a very sad year for us all in this ski town. We have lost several and it has been hard. However, we believe that we can save Toad.
If the community will rally one more time and come to Bumps on the 10th of April, we promise you a fun time. The Aspen Skiing Co. has allowed us to plan activities on Government Hill, there will be entertainment and food and drink offered. Adults will cost $35 and children will be $20.
Come out and support one of Aspen’s finest ski instructors. I know there are many people in the valley who have been taught by Toad and it would be wonderful to see you all there. This is a guy who has given his life to children; let’s give something back.
