Let the parents know
March 8, 2002
I am writing to suggest that the Aspen Skiing Co. print some very visible signs to post in ski school areas, such as Powder Pandas, which would read: “We strongly urge parents to insist that their children wear protective helmets while skiing.”
A helmet might not have saved the life of the little girl who died at Highlands a few weeks ago – but it could have. I agree with those who say that this is ultimately the responsibility of parents, but we are the first generation of skiers who are wearing helmets and a lot of parents may not yet realize that they are a good idea.
