Let freedom reign

Dear Editor:

If we as a people continue to allow our government to strip our rights and freedom, then in the future, some government official could try for a complete and total power grab. Taking this to a logical conclusion, the currently free U.S. will become just another dictatorship. Freedoms of speech, press, assembly and religion and citizens’ protection from being jailed or murdered without due process will be gone. Maybe not today, but give it a few years.

We as Americans on both sides need to review our Bill of Rights and accept them all, not just the ones we like. Why, you ask? It is because if you allow one right to get stripped, you open the door for all to be stripped. I do not care what side you are on politically, but remember, if government can take one freedom, government can take all of them.

Liberty and freedom are not cheap and have cost us as a nation a great deal. We as a people must voice our concerns to our representatives in Congress, the White House and the Supreme Court.

Do not reduce our rights, freedoms and liberties!
