Leonard a victim of unnecessary roughness

Dear Editor:

The “Miami Vice” letter to the editor in the Wednesday, Sept. 29, issue of The Aspen Times was particularly repugnant. To call a hard-working, responsible citizen who wants to serve his and our community an “old geezer” should not ever have been printed – and to liken this candidate to “Miami Vice,” just because his career in law enforcement happened to be in Florida, shows ignorance on the part of the sender.

Why not focus on the facts – the honor, leadership and solid experience of Mr. Leonard, rather than cast inaccurate and senseless banter – and by the way, he does live here – in Basalt.
