Leave a parking legacy

Aspen Times writer

Dear Editor:It’s not about pricing locals out of the core area. It’s about encouraging our visitors to stop and shop in the core area. Employers who allow their employees to feed the meters, and take spaces from our visitors, are a problem. Eliminating free two-hour parking in residential areas is a start. Aspen has always had a parking problem. It cannot be solved with words. Why didn’t the council demand more public parking at The Hyatt? What about Rubey Park, Wagner, Rio Grande, etc.? These spaces have been suggested for 40 years. Underground parking with parks on top work. Stop being such a short-sighted council. Now is the time to leave your legacy. Frank SpoffordAspen
