Leash ’em

Dear Editor: The Aspen Times, May 31 paper featured a photograph of Mr. Mueller running along the Rio Grande Trail with canines Rosie and Papito following behind off leash. While Pitkin County is happy to see Mr. Mueller and his four-legged friends enjoying the trails, it’s important that he and other trail users remember to keep their pets leashed. This helps ensure that Rosie and Papito poo-poo is not left behind, ensures that cyclists do not hurt themselves avoiding the cute little buggers, and protects wildlife. This will also protect Rosie and Papito from other hungry carnivores.Your cooperation with our leash law will ensure dogs remain welcome on our trails.Dale WillDirectorPitkin County Open Space & Trails
