ASPEN – The Aspen Historical Society’s Celebrate History continues at Bumps Restaurant at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, when Buttermilk gets the spotlight.

Experts will weigh in on Buttermilk in a discussion called “Define the Mountain: The Soul of Buttermilk,” which will include topics ranging from miners cutting railroad ties on Tiehack to the Winter X Games.

Attendees are invited to tell their own tales, too.

Panelists include:

• Peter Pfeifer – Youngest son of Friedl and Hoyt Pfeifer. Friedl was a ski pioneer and founder of Buttermilk.

• Muriel Frei – Arrived in 1965 with her Swiss ski instructor certification and went on to help with the B.O.L.D. program (program for visually impaired skiers).

• Mimi Schlumberger – The leader of the Powder Pandas, she owned and operated the mountain’s ski school for 3- to 6-year-olds and was integral in inventing the Skitch Lift.

• Peter King – A fixture at Buttermilk for many years – he was a ski instructor, ski school director and then mountain manager.

• Linda Harlan – Longtime kids instructor on Buttermilk Mountain who has a plethora of untold stories about the learning mountain.
