Law enforcement thanks Elks Lodge

Dear Editor:

From everyone at the Aspen Police Department and Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office, we would like to thank the Aspen Elks Lodge No. 224 for hosting their annual Law Enforcement Dinner on Monday, May 16, 2011. The dinner, held in recognition of National Law Enforcement Memorial Day and National Police Week, was a reminder to all of how fortunate we are to live and work in Aspen.

We would like to offer special thanks to Rebecca Hodgson for drafting a proclamation that was presented at last week’s Aspen City Council meeting, declaring the week of May 15-21 “Aspen Police Appreciation Week.” Community support such as this is sincerely appreciated as well as humbling.

The Aspen Police Department and Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office appreciate the support and trust the Elks, and the community, place in us as peace officers. We will always endeavor to live up to your expectations.

Police chief, Aspen Police Departmen
