Kurt Oppens book event in Aspen now on Aug. 14
Aspen, CO Colorado
ASPEN – An event to celebrate the release of a new book by the late Kurt Oppens has been postponed by one day, from Aug. 13 to Aug. 14.
Oppens, the former program annotator for the Aspen Music Festival, died in 1998. But his remarkable program notes, which graced festival performances for nearly four decades, have been compiled into a new book.
“Kurt Oppens on Music: An Aspen Legacy” will be released to the public at the Aspen Historical Society on Friday, Aug. 14, at 4 p.m. The event was delayed by a day in order to receive advance copies of the book, which includes photos by Robert Chamberlain, Charles Abbott and Ferenc Berko.
Refreshments will be available at the ceremony. The Aspen Historical Society is located at 620 W. Bleeker St. For more information, call the society at 925-3721.
