Kudos to Five Point Film Festival
As a sponsor, business person and resident of Carbondale, I would like to thank Five Point Film Festival for making this event happen in our community. I’m not sure people realize how bringing this type of event “stimulates” our economy and in the long run is a huge benefit to Carbondale.
Since last Thursday we have had between 600 and 800-plus people converge on our tiny town to attend the event. It was exciting to see people from around the globe find a reason to gather here. They were all over town, filling rooms, checking out our restaurants, shops and businesses.
That “stimulus” doesn’t stop when they leave our community. Many visitors are still talking about how wonderful our town is to others who missed out on being here in our great community and attending the event. Those visitors are tickling the interest for others to come visit here, and for those event attendees, already in their minds is that next year’s event will be bigger and better.
This event is on the level of the X Games for Outdoor Adventure Film Makers, and even if you don’t like watching movies, you have to appreciate what this venue is doing for us here. Please join me in thanking Julie Kennedy, Beda Calhoun and Brie Bath for making this year’s Five Point Film Festival a weekend many of us were grateful to have had an opportunity to participate in.
