Kudos for Bone Day

Dear Editor:

The Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) and KDNK were thrilled by the turnout for our first annual Bone Day in Dogdale event.

We couldn’t have had such a fun and successful event without the incredible creative talent and hard work of Jane Bachrach, of Bonedale Productions. We also would like to gratefully acknowledge the support of so many sponsors and volunteers, and the enthusiastic participation of the local dog-loving community. We would like to especially thank our sponsors, RJ Paddywacks, Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage, and the Dogg House. Big thanks are also due to Debbie Keller, Kat and the crew at the Dogg House for the wonderful dog baths and nail trims. Many benefited from the advice Dr. Ben Macklin, of Carbondale Animal Hospital, Dr. Judy Leake and Dr. Kate Owens, of Red Hill Animal Health Center, and trainers Lisa Johnson and Terena Thomas.

The Worstminster Dog Show was the highlight of the event, and we are thankful to Steve Skinner and all the judges and participants for their humor and entertainment.

We were glad to have Colorado Animal Rescue join ARF with some of the adoptable rescue animals. We thank Mike and Molly Peterson for bringing our parade marshal, Waldo. Thanks also to Bob Mitchell and Zap for an incredible performance and the Roaring Fork Kennel Club for their performance as well. Many prizes were also generously donated by RJ Paddywacks, the Rocky Mountain Pet Shop and High Tails.

To those who manned the parade route, scheduled and helped with dog baths and “peticures,” set up, cleaned up, and all the ARF and KDNK volunteers, we could not have done it without you.

We look forward to an even bigger and better event next May!

Peggy Corcillo, ARF
