Keeping public transportation free

Dear Editor:I would like to call Aspen voters’ attention to an important ballot question coming up: Referendum 2B. This question proposes to fund Aspen’s current level of free bus service as well as to fund the maintenance of the Rio Grande parking facility through an increase in the local sales tax. As a relatively new Aspen resident, I am deeply impressed by the town’s commitment to free, environmentally sound transportation. Our exemplary system is hugely important to the students, faculty and audience of our summer programs. This modest tax would ensure that we can continue purchasing greener vehicles and supporting efficient public transportation. I hope Aspenites will join me in supporting it.Alan FletcherPresident and CEOAspen Music Festival and School
