Keep rail line

Aspen Times writer

Dear Editor: RFTA doesn’t want to tear out the railroad line. If the city ever wants to have a light-rail system like some of the bigger city’s do, like San Diego and, before long, Phoenix and other places like Dallas, it will cost twice as much to replace the line than just to fix it up.Also, there may be a possibility of a freight operation there someday and possibly a tourist train. Your RFTA needs to be an all-around transportation authority instead of just buses. I have seen towns pull out their railroad line and then need it.I know one place right now, they need it bad, but it’s cost-prohibitive to put it back in.Doyle TerrellFort Smith, Ariz.
