Keep it positive, Aspen Times

Dear Editor:

Hey, we’re still skiing and boarding!

The front-page photo on Tuesday’s Aspen Times was such a disappointment. The photo was a downer, while the headline had a positive message: “Skico sticks to ski areas’ scheduled closing dates.” They should. The mountain crews are keeping the upper slopes in particular in surprisingly good shape given the limited snowfall of past weeks. You can ski top to bottom, and overall spring conditions are terrific. People are enjoying the spring skiing, and guests at our hotels are having fun.

Come on, Aspen Times. Let’s see a photo of the upper slopes, with good coverage, not a lower-lift photo that shows closed runs. The story had a positive message about Skico keeping more than 75 percent of its terrain open, and reports from skiers and boarders have been positive. And guess what – it’s April, and we have wonderful spring skiing still. So hats off to the mountain crews, and let’s tell the world that we are still skiing and having fun!
