Aspen, CO ColoradoKatherine Kaspar died May 5, 2007. She was 83.Katherine was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Aspen, to parents August and Anna Anderson. She graduated from Aspen High School in 1942. She moved to Long Beach, Calif., during the war years and married Edward Kaspar in 1948. Following the death of her husband in 1971 she began work as a window clerk at the Lakewood, Calif., post office until her retirement in 1987.Survivors included her children, son Edward Kaspar (and wife, Barbara); daughter Patricia Harrington (and husband, Richard Harrington); daughter Janice Popish (and husband, Don Popish); grandchildren Jenny Kaspar, Marcie Kaspar, Scott Kaspar, Richie Harrington, Trever Harrington, Anakarin Pratt, Lisa Schoon and Garrett Popish.Her daughter Janice still resides with her family in the Roaring Fork Valley.Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her brother, Ray, of Center, and her three sisters, Hazel Loushin, and Ruth and Lilly Anderson of Aspen.Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren, and she never missed an opportunity to be with them. She will be dearly missed by those she left behind, but her loving kindness will never leave our hearts. Memorial services took place Thursday, May 10, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, Calif.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society.
