Karl Severson memorial is Saturday at Elk Camp

Friends, family members and colleagues of Karl Severson will gather Saturday to celebrate the life of the former Aspen High School student who died in a car crash this summer.

The memorial service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at Elk Camp restaurant on Snowmass Ski Area. Gondola loading begins at 1:30 p.m. At 2:30 p.m., a one-hour memorial will begin, and participants will be encouraged to share their memories and stories of Karl.

Free parking is available in the Base Village structure. Severson, who was 16 when he died in June, was a pro assistant to the Snowmass Ski School, an alpine ski racer with Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club and an aspiring helicopter skiing guide. His parents, Mark and Maddie Severson, are both long-time ski school pros.
