KAJX fund drive will wrap up on Friday

Aspen Times Staff Report

Aspen’s public radio station has three days left in its winter fund-raising drive for 1999, and as new station manager Tom Eirman admitted on Tuesday, “We’ve still got a ways to go.”

Public radio station KAJX-FM has set its winter fund-raising goal at $50,000, but as of midday on Tuesday, it had collected only “a little over $15,000,” Eirman said.

The fund-raiser, which is scheduled for one week instead of two weeks or more as has been done in the past, is mainly targeted at morning and evening audiences of the National Public Radio news programs, Eirman said.

“We’ll take the calls during the shows in the daytime, but the intense times are morning and afternoon,” Eirman said.

The drive, which began on Feb. 11, will end on Friday.

On the Fly: Forever thankful

I try to remember to give thanks every day I spend outside, whether it be floating the Colorado or Roaring Fork, fishing an epic dry fly hatch on the Fryingpan, or teasing up tiny brook trout on a remote lake or stream. We’re spoiled rotten here, so it’s easy to be thankful.
