Judges sought for debate meet

Dear Editor:

On Nov. 10, the Aspen High School speech and debate team will host a festival meet on campus all day.

Many students from Colorado high schools will perform in numerous events. This event can only be successful with the support and involvement of the Aspen-Snowmass community. This letter functions as a plea to the many critically skilled and savvy community members to come support this event by serving as judges for any or all of the events offered at the competition.

I encourage interested and/or curious individuals to investigate the Aspen High School Festival hyperlink located at http://www.speechmeets.com. You can identify event rules and guidelines for the events listed at this Web page via the Colorado High School Activities Association website, http://www.chsaa.org.

We will be offering judge-training workshops on the Tuesday and Friday before the event (Nov. 6 and Nov. 10). No experience is necessary, although I have met many ex-speech and debate alumni in our community who would already bring a great deal of experience and expertise to their role as judge.

Please consider supporting this event, these students, Aspen High School and our communities with your critical excellence and experience. I invite any and all questions and comments you might have.

Please send emails to cwheatley@aspenk12.net, or call 970-925-3760, ext. 1023.
