Joseph G. Costantini of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Oct. 11 in Buffalo, N.Y. of complications from heart failure. He was 88.

He was born on Nov. 17, 1924 in Torre de’ Passeri, Italy to Giulia di Tarquinio and Oreste Costantini.

He served in the American military when he first came to this country from Italy. He had a career as an anesthesiologist. He loved to travel, seeing the sights and eating the local specialities. He had a special penchant for history, politics and could often be found engaged in lively discussions.

Joe and his wife, Helena, enjoyed lunches at the senior center, skiing, and volunteering at the music festival during their retirement years in Aspen. Helena died in 1996 and Joe, not too long after, moved back to Cincinnati to be closer to his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by sons Carey and Jay, daughter Michele and a sister, Elvira.

Joseph Costantini, M.D., was interred at 11 a.m. on Oct. 15 in Red Butte Cemetery, Aspen.
