Jones: Be more diligent with photos

I’m trying to understand how, out of all the possible photos, The Aspen Times landed on a registered sex offender to represent Aspen’s après-ski scene on the front page. There are exactly two registered sex offenders in town, and somehow, one of them became the face of “fun” in Aspen?

Not only is this a terrible look for the paper, but it also puts Eleven212 in an awkward position they probably didn’t sign up for. Aspen is a tight-knit community, and we should be more mindful of the messages we send, both to locals and visitors. Featuring this individual so prominently in a lighthearted context … shirtless at a party, no less … undermines the responsibility of local journalism. I urge you to be more diligent in your photo selection process moving forward. The community deserves better.
