Join in road cleanup

Dear Editor:I was biking up Castle Creek Road to Ashcroft last week amidst the beautiful snowy white peaks of the local mountains, and the luscious yellows and oranges of the last of the fall leaves. Needless to say it was a stellar day. Unfortunately, I noticed a ton of small cans, bottles and plastic trash along the side of the road. So I decided to do something about it.Saturday morning we are going to clean up the road all the way to Ashcroft! We will be done by noon, just in time to get to The Cantina for lunch. Darren Chapple, the general manager, has provided us a generous offering of 50 percent off his lunch menu! Karen of Gracy’s has offered to provide 10 percent off anything in the store on Saturday, including all their Halloween costumes! And even Pitkin County is helping out. Temple at the Department of Public Works is providing trash bags and will pick them up on Monday. And Gene Reardon will offer tax advice, and I will offer financial advice to anyone that participates! Plus The Aspen Times has been a dream to work with. So, we need your help. If you can join us on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the hospital, we’ll all have some fun. It should take no more than an hour or so. Call me at 544-1707 or send an e-mail to to confirm.Todd ShaverAspen
