Johnson for BOCC
I am writing to express my support for Jack Johnson for Pitkin County commissioner. Jack has demonstrated his ability to be well-informed and knowledgeable about a wide range of issues. His involvement in local government on the Aspen City Council and most recently on the Pitkin County Planning and Zoning Commission will serve him well if elected a Pitkin County commissioner. His understanding of local land use, the importance of the environment and our rural character, and the importance of retaining our community in Pitkin County are all reasons to support him for elected office.
Aspen has always been the center of spirited political debate. It is particularly disheartening to witness the personal attacks and the low level to which some have aspired. I remember an Aspen where everyone worked together in the best interest of the community. I have found Jack’s comments and decisions to be well-informed, well-intentioned and in the best interest of the community. I will be voting for Jack Johnson for Pitkin County commissioner because I share his vision of what Aspen and Pitkin County can still be.

Pitkin County administrators are proposing a more than $142 million budget for 2020, which is about $6 million less than this year because of fewer construction projects and capital improvements.
