John deserves the Hall of Fame

Hats off to the Colorado Performing Arts Hall of Fame Advisory Board for their recent induction of John Denver into the Colorado Performing Arts Hall of Fame in Denver.

I was honored to be in attendance on April 1 at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts for the induction ceremony, which followed the performance of “Almost Heaven: Songs and Stories of John Denver.”

Congratulations also to everyone involved with that performance. It was superb, and highlighted so many of the wonderful songs and causes that John Denver will be remembered for.

Best wishes go to John Denver’s family members in attendance for the induction ceremony, especially John’s mother, Erma Deutschendorf. I know from visiting with her how proud she is of all John was able to accomplish in his remarkable career, and for the many lives he touched through his beautiful music.

This great award, which was long overdue, should insure that future generations will be exposed to the wonderful gift of John Denver’s music, and that perhaps his dream for a better world for all of us, may someday become a reality.
