Jerome T. Walsh
Jerome T. Walsh died Sept. 21, 2005. He was 75 years old.Jerry was born and raised in Chicago. He attended St. Phillips High School and the University of Illinois. He was a mechanical contractor and co-owner of Delta Piping and Hanley Mechanical Inc. in Chicago for more than 40 years. He was past president of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Chicago and served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He loved to spend time outdoors and in the company of friends. Without much provocation, Jerry was known to sing his favorite Irish songs.In 1972, Jerry and his family purchased a home in Snowmass. By 1998, Jerry and his wife, Darlene, decided to make Basalt their permanent home. Jerry was an employee of ACRA, working at the Aspen airport information center for the past couple of years.He is survived by his wife, Darlene; children Pat, Tracy, Colleen, Erin and Tim; sisters Catherine (Walsh) Pollard and Patricia (Walsh) Sobie; and six grandchildren.There will be a memorial Mass in Jerry’s honor at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church in Basalt at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. A reception will follow.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jerry’s name to the foundation at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs.
‘One step at a time’: Snowmass resident surpasses goal of 85 uphills for his 85th birthday
At the start of the 2023-2024 ski season, Mone Anthan set an ambitious goal for himself: uphill 85 times for his 85th birthday. By the time his birthday came on March 15, he had surpassed 85 uphills and was shooting for 100.
