Jazz fest kudos

Dear Editor:The recent joie de vivre in Snowmass Village during Jazz Aspen was so uplifting. I don’t recall, in all the years I’ve lived in the village, such vitality and energy. The Jazz Aspen staff also deserves accolades for quickly finding replacements for Basin Street Records artist Jon Cleary and The Absolute Monster Gentlemen. Mr. Cleary’s visa was delayed, causing cancellations of numerous U.S. concerts while he waited in England for his documents. It was only realized days before Jazz Aspen that he would not have the proper documents to travel in time to make the festival. Jazz Aspen staff was offered another Basin Street Records artist, Theresa Andersson, as a replacement for Jon Cleary. However, they were already prepared for just such a debacle and had Deep Banana Blackout and Ray’s Music Exchange lined up to cover Jon Cleary’s spots.I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed the entire weekend and appreciate all the hard work it takes to pull off such an event.Cheryl KoehneSnowmass Village
