We strongly endorse our friend Jack Johnson for county commissioner. Jack is the hardest-working, most prepared person in this race. We believe that campaigns are most constructive when citizens tell the truth and stick to the issues and the qualifications of the candidates; therefore we will outline the many reasons for our support:
1. Jack does not need on-the-job training. He has served on Aspen’s City Council, Pitkin County’s Planning and Zoning Commissions, the CORE board and the Ruedi Water and Power Authority.
2. Jack loves this community – as is demonstrated by his volunteer service with numerous Roaring Fork Valley nonprofits, such as the Aspen Historical Society, the Pitkin County Senior Center and the Aspen Art Museum, where he was Volunteer of the Year two years running.
3. Jack understands that the role of Pitkin County commissioner extends beyond the Aspen city limits and has taken the time to visit with folks outside of Aspen to learn about their priorities.
4. While we do not always agree with Jack on every issue, we know that he is always willing to listen to our position. Sometimes we will agree – other times we will agree to disagree. However, the important part is that he will listen and take your thoughts into consideration.
Jack’s work ethic, preparation for the job, love of our community and willingness to listen to opposing views are the reasons we strongly urge you to join us in voting on Tuesday, Aug. 10, for Jack Johnson for county commissioner.
