Ittner endorsements carry weight

Dear Editor:

When a former opponent endorses a candidate, that is high praise which should not be minimized or ignored. Messrs Clapper and Speck could have remained silent and stayed on the sidelines; instead they each chose to endorse Rob Ittner.

That backing comes from individuals who thought they qualified for the office, gave of themselves considerable time, resources and emotions to run and now believe that one of the survivors of the primary is better suited than the other.

Simply put, when former competitors, going forward, cast their support for one person those are important data points of guidance for all voters.
