It’s time to tackle the real issues

Dear Editor:

I breathed a sigh of relief after the bag vote in Basalt. It looks like, for the time being, common-sense democracy still rules. With a nod to our newly configured council, will you please consider this: The message is we’d like you to concentrate on keeping the bills paid, keep the infrastructure working, keep our first responders at the ready, etc.

Given this rough patch we’re in right now, sensible growth and development with the emphasis on jobs should keep you plenty busy.

Please leave the social-engineering stuff to our administration in Washington. They seem to have lots of free time to devote to those endeavors.

Thanks to the locals for getting out the vote, especially to Messr. Chorbajian for stepping up to the plate, a fine example of democracy in action.

Apologies to Carbondale City Market, a good business caught in the crossfire of a government juggernaut gone awry. I enjoyed shopping at your store, but not anymore. The free market works, and now Basalt and Glenwood are simply more attractive places to shop.
