It’s not the bears that are going to get you

Dear Editor:

My Lifelink shovel and probe were taken from the top of the Aspen Mountain gondola Sunday, April 5. Before you stash them away with the hope of using them next year let me tell you about the stickers ” the eye-catching dancing bears. I can’t tell you how many powder runs we’ve taken together. They truly do come alive when it’s cold, windy and dumping, full-on winter. The Selkirk Tangiers sticker from my first heli skiing trip to Revelstoke wouldn’t mean that much to you. The Aspen Goes Deep sticker from the opening day of the Deep Temerity lift at Highlands wouldn’t either, as you probably weren’t there.

The sticker of Ullr is the one you should pay attention to, though. In Norse mythology Ullr is the son of Sif and a stepson of Thor. Among his many skills he was the god of skiing, archery and hunting. He was the master of the backcountry. So do the right thing. Return them where you found them.
