It’s not about culture
Dear Editor:
No one against the sale of the Rio Grande Commons building is against culture. It’s just that we have a perfectly good art museum already in a beautiful place by the river, and on a well maintained bike and walking path. What kind of a culture do we have that wants to scrape a great community center building that isn’t even 15 years old? That would be a criminal waste and a heartless act. I only wish the city of Aspen would take better care of 455 Rio Grande Plaza, and realize the jewel they have there. Actually, the city has no business being in real estate! Please do not vote for any more asinine teardown projects.
The pine beetle is here and we have rain in February these days. Nature is talking; please listen. Your children and grandchildren will benefit if you hear and act accordingly.
