It’s good to be free
Dear Editor:What a terrible place we must live in:1) buses that take us to hell at speeds they cannot attain2) tree tops getting lopped off by unseen loppers3) medical aid to be withheld to the illegal immigrant population4) terrible service at restaurants5) too much progress6) too little progressEtc., etc., etc. …Take an huge, deep breath, call the bus company, plant a new tree, vote, go to a new restaurant and thank the good lord we live in a country where we can voice our opinions, vote to make changes and have some say in how much or how little happens in our back yards. Yes folks, this is the good old USA, and I, for one, and glad to be here.Mike ZakahiBasalt

The property tax overcharge refunds are in the hands of Basalt residents. A new civic organization is cranking up its campaign to have recipients contribute some or all of their refunds to the Basalt Gives effort to benefit midvalley-serving nonprofits.
