It’s getting warmer
Dear Editor: What’s happening to my wonderful country? How can it be that there is no national dialogue regarding global warming, an issue that could have a much more profound impact on us, and every other living thing in the world, than terrorists could dream of?How is it that the media still talks about global warming as if there is some kind of controversy, when it’s talked about at all? The scientists who have studied global warming are basically unanimous in agreement that human-caused pollution is the major factor in creating global warming.I’ve lived in Colorado for over 35 years, and, like you, I’ve seen our winters get warmer and warmer, and droughts become prolonged. If it’s not attributable to global warming, great, I’ll live with it, but what if, as seems most likely, it is?How has this become a political issue? Even if you follow the Republican line, if you think it is, perhaps, still too early to say definitively that the planet is warming as a direct consequence of human discharge of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, wouldn’t you at least consider the consequences if you’re wrong? We all make mistakes, and if the current administration’s making one here, all of us will suffer the consequences.As a parent I am very concerned about the world we are leaving for our children, and to me, our government’s callous approach to the earth is incomprehensible.
