Iraq war generating suffering veterans

Dear Editor:Re: Continuing war casualties. The American people are being deceived by the Bush administration and its helpers, the news and information industry. The news industry depicts the war combat in Iraq as simply a security or law enforcement operation, with no coverage of the reality of combat. The news industry is reporting a glorified, sanitized, bloodless version of combat and reports none of the emotional consequences for the survivors of combat, the increasing numbers of dead American soldiers and the more than 11,000 wounded. The Bush administration is manufacturing another generation of veterans; wounded, disabled veterans, who are missing arms, legs, hands and eyes, who will be subjected to a lifetime of pain and disability and whose injuries and suffering will continue long after America declares victory in Iraq. Our Iraq war veterans will suffer the life-altering emotional consequences of the rage, terror, horror and pain of combat. The numbers of veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder in this war will rival or exceed the numbers from Vietnam. Will America spit in the faces of our combat veterans at the airport, as they return home this time?
