ASPEN – Independence Pass southeast of Aspen will close temporarily Saturday morning for Ride for the Pass, an annual fundraiser for the Independence Pass Foundation.
The pass will close at 6 a.m. and will reopen by 1:30 p.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. The winter gates will be closed on both the Aspen and Twin Lakes sides for the event.
Typically, Ride for the Pass occurs before Highway 82 over the pass opens for the season, but CDOT was able to open the pass early this year.
