Independence Pass closes due to snowfall
Independence Pass was shut down this morning because of adverse weather conditions, according to Pitkin County authorities.
The Colorado State Patrol made the decision to close the pass, which will remain shutdown “until further notice,” authorities said. The announcement was made at 6:42 a.m.
The scenic leg of Highway 82, which takes motorists to the Continental Divide and Twin Lakes, was officially scheduled to close Nov. 7 before re-opening in May.
