In the Saddle: Turn and burn
SNOWMASS The next race in the Aspen Cycling Club’s summer series takes place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Snowmass. The Scorch Downhill will pit mountain bikers in a race against the clock while tearing down singletrack and dirt roads to the base of the mountain.The singletrack is on skiers left of the Burlingame lift – which will operate specifically for the cycling club between 5 and 6 p.m. Racers can preride the course from 5-5:30 p.m.Registration will be available near the bottom of the Burlingame lift from 5-6 p.m. Because racers will leave in one-minute intervals, everyone has to sign up for a specific start time. To arrange a time, racers can call Susan at 618-4626 or 922-0065, or do so at the registration table before the race.All area riders are encouraged to come out and race. Advanced registration is not required. Entry fees are $5 for ACC members and $10 for nonmembers. Prepaid members must check in before the start. Race changes and/or cancellation for weather will be announced at the start. Parking is available at the upper village lots; however, racers are encouraged to ride to the Start.
