The Smuggler Mountain Hill Climb – the Aspen Cycling Club’s next race in the 2007 season – starts Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the base of Smuggler Mountain access road at South Ave and Park Circle. Riders will leave one at a time in 30 second intervals and climb to the platform deck. Marshals are always needed for cycling club races. Interested voluteers can call Susan Carollo (aka Mouse) at 618-4626. Riders will compete in the following categories: Senior Men A, Senior Women A, Vet Men A, Senior Men Citizen, Veteran Men Citizen, Senior Women Citizen, Vet Women, Junior Men, Junior Women, Master Men, Master Women, Grand Masters and kids. Race changes and/or cancellation due to inclement weather will be announced at the start. Limited parking is available and racers are encouraged to ride to the start. Advanced registration is not required. Racers can register and pay at the race start between 5-5:50 p.m. Riders who would like a specific start time should register early. Entry fees are $5 for ACC members and $10 for nonmembers. Prepaid members must check in before the race start.
