In support of Fingerhut’s character
Dear Editor:I would like to make a brief comment about Bert Fingerhut in reference to yesterday’s front page article (“Aspenite is guilty of securities scam,” May 17).Bert has admitted to making a huge mistake and he is paying the consequences for it. He is addressing his behavior and facing his demons in the best way he knows how. What he did was wrong and no one is harder on him than himself. But I write to let readers who might not know the other side of Bert Fingerhut. He has spent almost all of his time for decades volunteering for organizations working on environmental issues and social issues. He is a dedicated family man and generous with his time and spirit to so many people. He is a genuine hero for people working to help our planet. As a member of Mountain Rescue, he has saved lives and helped rescue a myriad of people. His heart is huge and open, and, yes, he has made an enormous mistake, but I am confident that when all is said and done and he has paid society back, he will be a better man for it, and we as a community will be proud of him for his achievements and for who he is. Bert is an extremely decent man of enormous generosity and boundless energy who has dedicated his life for positive change in our world.Bruce GordonAspen
