In need of civic space
Dear Editor:
We should have a civic hall. We have no “civic meeting space” in this town ” a space for community programs (such as AA), and community dances, public meetings, community dinners, public speakers and meetings, etc. Not to mention resident artists who live here … painters, dancers, writers, actors, poets, storytellers and musicians who do not have consistent rehearsal, studio or performing space.
When the instinctual heart of a community is subverted to the interests of a monied minority who see the “good of the community” as raising it to the highest level of economic worth, then you have a business, not a community. And money can’t buy you love. And that is what real community is about ” love ” of family, neighbor, associates and place.
Please vote no on selling this precious public land to the art museum.
