In appreciation of the new trail

Dear Editor:We all owe the RFTA board and our local government officials a big thank you for completing new sections of the Rio Grande Trail. The trail from Catherine Store Bridge to Carbondale has made cycling to Carbondale safer and more pleasant. This fall, the new trail from Catherine Store bridge to Hooks Spur bridge will be complete, allowing locals and tourists to cycle, hike or Rollerblade from Carbondale to Basalt on safe, paved and scenic trails. The safety factor of the Rio Grande Trail cannot be emphasized enough. The trail provides a safe trail for our children to venture out without exposing them to narrow roads and high-speed cars. The Rio Grande Trail also promotes increased commuting and decreases pollution while stimulating eco-tourism.Thanks again, RFTA!George D. TrantowMidvalley Trails Committee of Eagle County
