Impressed with local welcome
Dear Editor:My wife and I recently visited Snowmass and Aspen. I am a retired professional educator, and my wife is an active physical therapist. We live in central New York and together visited Snowmass and Aspen for the first time.We were impressed by the cultural atmosphere as exhibited by the businesses and the general public. Everywhere we walked and visited, people were genuine and polite. The citizens treated tourists as natives. I am particularly impressed by the general acceptance of all people. Such a down-to-earth aura that fills the air. Thanks to all the businesses and natives for your cordial welcome. We had a special opportunity to obtain a professional guide from Blazing Adventures, Colin, and this made our trip very special. Other professionals, Nate and Belle, were extremely informative and generated such a positive attitude toward life.Kudos to the natives of Snowmass and Aspen. You have created and support a genuine down-to-earth culture that so many Americans do not have the opportunity to witness. Thanks for our memorable experience. We will return next summer!Dick and Kathy MabbettWeedsport, N.Y.

The property tax overcharge refunds are in the hands of Basalt residents. A new civic organization is cranking up its campaign to have recipients contribute some or all of their refunds to the Basalt Gives effort to benefit midvalley-serving nonprofits.
